The Light Blues welcomed the Bundesliga 2 side to Govan for the second of three home pre-season friendlies and it was a valuable workout.
Rangers welcomed their old pals Hamburg to Ibrox this afternoon and Michael Beale's men emerged with a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Fashion Sakala and James Tavernier's penalty.

The Light Blues and Hamburg share a link that spans more than four decades to when the clubs played a pair of friendlies back in the 1970s and Jorg Albertz has this week called upon his former clubs to make it happen on an annual basis.

There was something of a party atmosphere for the travelling Hamburg fans, who had enjoyed a special reception in Edmiston House last night, but it was all business on the park as the German second tier side stepped up their own prep for their season opener next week.
