Lori Spencer on the Kim Iversen Show: The CIA's Long History With Nazis in Ukraine

A trove of official CIA documents declassified in 1998 under the Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act reveal the Agency’s close ties to Nazi war criminals in #Ukraine, including the notorious “hero of Ukraine” Stepan #Bandera and his second-in-command, Mykola Lebed (personally recruited into the CIA by Allen Dulles), among others in the OUN-B and UPA.

Thousands of documents detail how the CIA armed, funded, trained, and used Ukranian nationalist insurgents to do anti-communist propaganda campaigns, wage guerilla war, and commit acts of terrorism against the Soviet Union during the Cold War from 1947-1991.

I visited the Kim Iversen Show to talk about this incredible story which has been quietly buried in the National Archives for more than 20 years — and most importantly, to discuss the implications of America’s support of Ukraine in the current war with #Russia.
