15th In our series the Epistle of 2nd Peter

I. Discerning a False Prophet - Deuteronomy 18:20-22
* A. A prophet leading people astray, from the worship of the One True God is to be executed
* B. The sign of a prophet speaking God’s Word
* 1. The prophecy will be fulfilled as prophesied
* 2. The prophet will point people to worship the One True God

II. The True Prophets spoke as God inspired them - 2 Peter 1:20-21
* A. The entire Bible, all 66 Books are prophecy - God’s Word spoken forth into the world
* 1. Though given originally to one individual it was meant for all mankind
* 2. It is not private but for every tribe, tongue and nation
* B. There is one correct interpretation for each passage
* 1. To find that we must be diligently study Gods’ Word - 2 Timothy 2:15
* 2. We must compare Scripture with Scripture as God’s Word is its own best interpreter 
* C. God’s Word didn’t come by man’s will, but was God breathed - 2 Timothy 3:16-17
* 1. Moved along by the Holy Spirit as a sail boat moved by the wind
* a. The Bible is a supernatural book
* b. It is infallible and inerrant in every thing it says about every subject to which it speaks
* c. David’s testimony - 2 Samuel 23:2
* d. Like a fire within that could not be restrained - Jeremiah 20:9
* 2. Because the future is in God’s hands we need not fear what is to come but be prepared - Revelation 6:8; 9:15
