Reading the Scripture helps us “check” our status. Even the “outrageous” things in the scripture, such as St Paul saying that he would be willing to go to Hell so that his people would be saved, can teach us of our limits *and* possibilities. “My conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit…” “I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:” “If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.” “Thy faith hath made thee whole.”A contemplative, ebullient and encouraging exegesis of the readings for the 6th Saturday after Pentecost: Romans 9:1-5 Matthew 9:18-26
