A Nevada congresswoman has called for an end to what she called “brutal” government-sponsored roundups of wild horses using helicopters after several animals died during the Bureau of Land Management’s annual wild horse “gathers.” Rep. Dina Titus tweeted she was proposing legislation, the Wild Horse and Burro Protection Act of 2023, that she said “would end these brutal roundup practices and more humanely manage the herds” using fertility-reducing medications and traditional cowboys.
