After 25 very fruitful years, Oprah Winfrey has said her goodbye to her original Harpo Studios in Chicago, Illinois.

Last March Oprah had announced that Harpo Studios' was closing after she entered into negotiations to sell the property in December 2014.

Oprah Winfrey opened the facility in 1990 to house her talk show empire, helped turn Chicago into a bustling television center and the West Loop into a resurgent urban neighborhood.

The lease on the space, where Winfrey's famous show was recorded for decades, ran out in April. The last day of production was be Dec. 11, 2015.

Harpo Studios had been at the center of Winfrey's broadcast universe since it opened, hosting her syndicated daily talk show through its finale in 2011. Chicago-based real estate developer Sterling Bay Cos. bought the four-building Near West Side facility in 2014, paying a combined $30.5 million for about 170,000 square feet of space.

Several months ago, she took to Instagram to thank the local employees one last time before closing the doors for good.

Winfrey returned on Wednesday (27 July 2016( to oversee the demolition of the building, and lamented the fact that building will soon only exist in her memories:

So who has bought the property ?

Well the new McDonald’s corporate headquarters will be located there, which is set to open in 2018.

Unlike the previous owner, no one should expect them to be giving away free cars.
