Australian Brothers with a phenomenal sound "storming" the UK... Dakota, Sterophonics by Sametime!
Sametime is an Australian pop band living in the UK. Two brothers that make pop music "howdy partner🤠👋🏼, we are Sametime. Sam spends most of his time playing golf, Tim plays video games all day." (Sptfy) From a young age, brothers Tim and Sam Aitken knew that music would remain a strong and definitive presence in their lives. Growing up on the Sunshine Coast, they developed skills as dynamic live performers; busking consistently and eventually being able to see many parts of the country as one of Australia’s most beloved, talented duos. And while the thrill of performing for crowds of all backgrounds has always been part of Tim and Sam’s drive as musicians, their ambition has continued to grow as has their experience as musicians and songwriters.
In the last decade alone, their evolution has seen Tim and Sam elevate their core sound and writing dynamic into the one a solid fan base around the country has come to know and love: Sametime. Debut single ‘Where The Wind Blows’ introduced Sametime to the world back in 2017, with the Sametime EP dropping in the following year. Delivering a strong statement of intent with four-track, Tim and Sam introduced themselves as fresh indie voices to be taking note of. Soon enough, the Australian music industry came calling: a worldwide publishing deal with Sony Music Australia; the creation of the boys’ own independent label - Duckfeet Records - and the mentorship of music industry icon Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson and their father Tony Aitken early on proved integral to Sametime’s early creative journey. From the onset, Sametime’s creative vision has remained unshakeable. The duo crave the energy only a live show experience can bring. And with that, their music has become reflective of this unique addiction and ambition. Where early inspirations evoked the likes of Ball Park Music and Last Dinosaurs, Sametime have found themselves looking at the polished, yet hedonistic, energy artists like The 1975 exude with ease. It’s an energy that Sametime have channelled in their own special way, creating and curating live experiences for fans - new and longtime alike. “
Being able to make music that gets people up and dancing is something we’ve always wanted to do. Now that we can actually see people, in real life, dancing, it's an added extra motivation to get out there and play live as much as possible.” Peppering 2020 with a string of singles that speak brilliantly to Sametime’s current artistic chapters (‘Get To Know Ya’), ‘Til Ur Not Ok’, ‘Moving On’), the duo’s emergence from lockdown coincided with the release of their sophomore EP in 2021, Maybe We Could Get High? A perfect look at how the duo’s songwriting partnership had galvanised during such a tumultuous time for the world, the record came at the most perfect of times for the act as did it for their fans. 2022 is a year of opportunity and reinvigoration for Sametime, as they anticipate a whole new era of music and artistry. Latest single ‘GOLDEN’ has continued to prove the duo’s longevity. Ready to step out into the spotlight once more and kick into high gear with their new music and live show, Sametime have layered insane amounts of spirit and charm through their music that crowds simply can’t resist dancing and letting themselves become fully immersed in the experience.
