A Twitter user says he almost fell victim to an airline scam.

Shmuli Evers says that his flight with Delta Air Lines was canceled and when he tried to call the company, it was a fake phone number from a scammer.

Wes Lafortune, the manager of communications and media with the Better Business Bureau of southern Alberta outlined some travel tips to avoid scams when you’re out for some much-needed summer holiday time.

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre says so far this year, Canadians have lost $283.5 million due to fraud.

If you’ve been the victim of a travel scam you can report it to the BBB’s Scam Tracker website.
