55 gallon barrel chicken waterer

Simply installing a valve on a 55 gallon barrel so it can be used to water chickens. The barrel could be fed by a downspout system using rainwater or you can add 55 gallons of water to the barrel every so often. I’m gonna put the barrel on two layers of concrete blocks, giving it some head pressure, so the water, then would flow out of the barrel out of the faucet through a garden hose to a desired length which will be hooked into half inch PVC. The PVC will then have several tees on it where the drinking cups will be attached. I also added a threaded fitting on the other end. Should I need to flush that pipe out.

Tools used were a drill with a holesaw measuring 1 1/2”, however, the bulkhead fitting is actually 1 5/8 inch. Otherwise, Teflon, tape or pipe, dope, PVC glue, and that’s about it.

Items used for this project
Bulkhead adapter from Menards 3/4” inside
1/2 inch PVC pipe with various fittings. The most important fitting is likely the half inch to three-quarter inch garden hose thread.
A watering cup kit, which included the watering cups, the tees and 90s and washers.
Also to five eights inch female hose repair fittings for garden hoses.
And 155 gallon barrel that had a removable lid
