Storms, Engine Failure, Sickness Can't Stop Me | Mutton Snapper Catch N Cook

Today I fish the Key Largo patch reefs before running offshore in search of sailfish. I get caught in storms, have engine issues and end up getting sick, but I don't come home without fish!

In this video:
The conditions off Key Largo kicked my butt. After getting some gas at the tavernier creek marina my 200hp mercury 2 stroke gets stuck in reverse. I watch a tutorial video and am able to fix the engine failure in less than an hour. Now i'm back in action ready to start fishing the Key Largo patch reef.

I anchor in 10-15ft of water and put out a chum bag. Lots of small snapper start to show up. These are grey snapper also named mangrove snappers. No ballyhoo show up, just a storm. All the small snapper are eating much chum so I decide to move to a more sandy bottom area.

I move fishing spots and more storms roll through. I'm starting to get cold, but the chum is out and just when I lost all hope the ballyhoo start to show up! I catch a good amount of ballyhoo and then throw out some cut sardines while it's raining. BOOM I hook up to something very powerful. I thought it was actually a shark but it was actually a big mangrove snapper. This is going to be a great catch n cook.

I get the mangrove snapper in the boat during heavy rain from the storms and then get right back to fishing. I show you the fishing setup i'm using and how to catch mutton snapper. 10 minutes later I decide it's time to run out to the reefs edge to drift live ballyhoo in hopes of landing a wahoo, sailfish or kingfish.

I catch a barracuda which I will keep for cut bait deep dropping this weekend. I start to feel a sickness coming on. The well known sea sickness. I don't get sea sick very often but sometimes the conditions are just the right combo to get me feeling sick while trying to fish.

I head back in, but i'm still very happy. I catch clean and cook the mutton snapper. Now all I can think about is this catch and cook. I end up making a mutton snapper fish soup. Or fish broth, not sure what to call it. The mutton snapper tasted excellent! Will have to cook this again on South Florida Fishing Channel.

Ps: I hope I didn't break my gopro the screen started getting all weird during the storms and the audio on my phone messed up too. I think it could be water damage...
