Mr. Holmes is an important living connection to two incredibly pivotal figures in the history of science fiction, fantasy, and role playing games (RPGs) and we talk all about them, Edgar Rice Burroughs (pulp fiction writer of the Tarzan, Pellucidar, and Mars series fame) and John Eric Holmes (writer of the first one-volume edition of the Dungeons & Dragons game and pulp fiction author, besides Marine Corps officer, professor of neurology, and more). Edgar Rice Burroughs is STILL a major influence on any fiction you see today, and we discuss what the spirit of adventure captured in his novels can and should teach us today.
