No Such Thing by John Mayer ~ The Real World is a Lie, We've Got to Rise Above

No Such Thing is the First Song from John Mayer's First Album (the Brilliant, Room for Squares) and it was a huge hit for John Mayer, which was surprising as no one knew John Mayer at the time, and as the Lyrics are so Truthful, Honest and Subversive, with the Hook of the Song featuring the following lines...

'I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the top of my lungs,
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above'

But there is so much more to this song as well, including...

'Welcome to the real world
She said to me condescendingly,
Take a seat, take your life
Plot it out in black and white

Well, I never lived the dream of the prom kings
And the drama queens,
I'd like to think the best of me
Is still hiding up my sleeve

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines,
But something's better
On the other side...'

And the ultimate lines that reveal the Great Lie about going to School, where you can read and read and read all you want, but NEVER find the actual answers to any of the questions you want answers to...

'So the good boys and girls
Take the so called right track
Faded white hats
Grabbing credits and maybe transfers
They read all the books but they can't find the answers...'

For the Video, I used Clips from John Cusack's BRILLIANT Movie, Grosse Pointe Blank, and his return to Detroit for his 10 year High School Reunion...this is a must see Movie, as well...

Make no mistake about it, John Mayer is a White Hat, and part of this Truth Movement within the Music Industry...he is also a Very Good Man, who possesses a Big Heart that is filled with Kindness...and because John Mayer works so hard at his Craft, he has become one of the Best Songwriters and Guitar players in Roll the Rock history...

God Bless you John Mayer, and thank you for all that you do...John's first album, Room for Squares, that features this song, is in the Top 10 of my List of the 150 Best and Most Important Rock Albums of all time...
