The 2023 North American Indigenous Games held their opening ceremonies in Halifax, Nova Scotia over the weekend with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau receiving a hail of boos from those in attendance. The Games showcase the best Indigenous talent in 16 sports with athletes ranging in age from 13 to 19 years old. Close to 5,000 athletes, coaches and team staff from over 750 Indigenous nations including right here in the southern Alberta region are connecting through the power of sport and culture.
