Game: Touhou: New World
System: PC

Note: I first learned about Touhou: New World being in development about a year and a half ago, so I had been waiting for so long to hear more details about it that didn't start arriving until the last couple of months. It's made by the same devs who made Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity, so it's kind of neat that the first game I did a recorded playthrough of almost a year ago will be Touhou: New World.

Since New World is a sequel to Scarlet Curiosity (at least implied storywise), I'm already familiar with much of the gameplay. It does introduce a few new mechanics, like blocking, so you do have more ways of avoiding damage beyond just dodging. Skills have their individual cooldown times, and aren't tied to a mana meter like in Scarlet Curiosity, which so far I'm liking more. This game also lets you dash to navigate through levels faster, which sounds minor, but just...THANK YOU. I liked Scarlet Curiosity, but the base movement speed was just too low relative to the level sizes. Even with the level sizes looking about the same here so far, having a dash makes much more of a beneficial difference.

Anyway, first impressions are pretty good so far. Hopefully, it can stay as such.
