How does God feel about those who've harmed you? (Pt. 9 of a Series on Forgiveness)

You've heard that you are to love your enemies (Mt. 5:43). Does that mean everyone, no matter what? The answer may actually surprise you. Is there a point beyond which a selfish person can go (in terms of hurting/oppressing others), which places them under divine judgement? In a word... yes! This is the truth that will help the survivor of oppression remain stable and fixed (Psalm. 91:1). It is the knowledge of God's heart of protection for the oppressed is what will give the survivor the sense that their pain has not fallen on deaf ears (Psa 56:8). And, this knowledge serves as a warning to those who are perpetrating harm, that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God who avenges injustice (Hebrews 10:31).

In this episode, Jon K. Uhler, LPC, continues to do a deep dive into the topic of forgiveness: what it is vs. what it is not, by looking at the what the scriptures lay out re. the categories of Oppressors, and how God responds and deals with each kind of Oppressor, on behalf of the pain they are causing, and the harm and injustice they are perpetrating. This insightful episode will help bolster those who've experienced oppression, by showing how God takes up their cause, against perpetrators and oppressors.

The issue of forgiveness (what it is vs. what it is not), is one of the most misunderstood issues, which is leaving countless survivors and others... who've been significantly negatively impacted by predators, perpetrators, and oppressors... tied up in emotional knotts, saddled with false guilt, and wondering if their pain actually matters to God. This is a needless tragedy, and is inevitably the result of a fundamental misunderstanding of Jesus' teaching on forgiveness, put forth by those who haven't taken the time to look into which original words Jesus did vs didn't use in the passage. The exact words He used will clarify the issue, and free Survivors from false guilt.

In this continuation of our series on Forgiveness: What it is vs. What it is NOT," on 'Journey to Healing, Jon K. Uhler, LPC, continues to unpack some of the most often misunderstood passages in Scripture, where Jesus told his followers they should "Love your enemies" (Mt 5:34), and "Do not resist one who is evil" (Mt. 5:39). In this episode of 'Journey to Healing,' Jon Uhler continues to unpack the original words from which Jesus used in those passages, to help clarify what He meant by "enemy" & "evil". What you'll learn will make all the difference in the world, in terms of not being saddled with false guilt for feeling as though you are unforgiving. You will also see how God responds to those who've harmed you.
