GRAIN AFLATOXINS; 5 OUT OF 23 UGANDAN TRUCKS SAMPLED AT ELEGU BORDER FOUND CONTAMINATED

Five out of the 23 trucks with 27 consignments that were returned to Uganda from south Sudan sampled and tested at Elegu and Nimule boarder by Uganda National bureau of standards had maize grain that was contaminated with aflatoxins.
While addressing the press at media center in Kampala, State minister for trade Ntabazi Harriet expressed the need to strengthen awareness to farmers on how to handle the grain at the farm, harvesting emphasizing the use of granaries and that government is to embark on putting in place warehouses with receipt systems to eradicate this problem.
