The Luminox Navy Seal Blackout XS.3081.BO.F Mens Watch is an amazing timepiece. I may not be a diver or an operative, but as a regular guy who appreciates tritium, this watch has exceeded my expectations.
Initially, I was skeptical about the orange markers on the watch, as I wanted all the tritium to be in green. However, I quickly realized that the orange markers actually help me tell time in the dark.
Even when Im just waking up in total darkness, they make it easier for me to read the time accurately. One minor drawback for me is that the tritium lamp on the bezel is quite small, making it hard for me to see.
However, I should note that my eyesight is not very good, so others may not have the same issue. In terms of design, this watch looks great and is incredibly light and comfortable to wear.
Its so comfortable that you might even forget you have it on. I particularly love how bright the rest of the lamps are. The small hands and the second hand are all luminous paint, not tritium, but that doesnt bother me at all.
I should mention that the newer models of Luminox watches dont even have the luminous paint, which is why I specifically bought this one. When the hands are fully charged, they create a really cool and eye-catching effect.
For me, this watch is more about aesthetics, and in that aspect, it definitely delivers. However, I do have one suggestion for improvement. The watch should have a sapphire crystal instead of a hardened mineral one.
The current mineral crystal is too reflective for my liking. If it had a sapphire crystal with a date magnifier, this watch would exceed all my expectations.
While in daylight, reading the face of the watch can be a little challenging due to the black-on-black design. However, in the dark or underwater during scuba diving, the luminescence of the watch is excellent.
It is very bright and easy to read. Moreover, the timekeeping accuracy of this watch is impressive. The only minor inconvenience I have experienced is having to work on getting the date to change at 0001.
Overall, this watch has been pretty rad so far. I received it as a Christmas gift from my wife, and Ive always wanted a Luminox watch.
