Adelaide-born Doug Ashdown was one of the first to get started in music.
Doug Ashdown is a popular Australian singer/songwriter who first released a world record with The Age of Mouse in 1970 and co-wrote the song "Winter in America" ​​with producer Jimmy Stewart.

At the age of ten, he was given a banjo which he learned to play by ear. At seventeen he traveled to England, where he played in a rock band, returning to Adelaide the following year and working as lead guitarist in The Bowmen with Bobby Bright (who rose to fame as half of the pioneering duo Bobby & Laurie).
