"Plotting to Murder Him": Why Julian Assange Must Not Be Extradited to the U.S.

Misty Winston: "If it is denied, unfortunately, we could see him on a plane within hours of that decision being made. So, he is literally a hair's breath away from being extradited to the country who was recently revealed to be plotting to murder him. So it's a really desperate situation right now, which is why we need everybody to get as involved and as loud about this as possible."

"If he is brought to the United States, he will be placed in a pretrial detention center. The same pretrial—likely—the same pretrial detention center that Chelsea Manning was held in before her court martial hearings, and then he will be put into a kangaroo court system, where he will be in espionage court in the Eastern District of Virginia. Nobody wins there. It is really kind of a hopeless situation at that point. If he is brought here, there is very little chance that he will win that case."

"As John Kiriakou, who was the CIA, he exposed the CIA torture program, he's a whistleblower as well, he was in that exact court, and he has spoken about this at length. Nobody wins in that court. It is essentially your jury pool is a bunch of three letter agency stooges and their families. So, your jury pool is completely corrupted, as well as the fact that in espionage court, you cannot present a public interest defense. So, Assange is essentially silenced at that point. He's not able to present a defense as to why he did the job of journalism, I guess, because that is essentially what he's being charged with. It is a very desperate situation."
