The only candidate for Thailand’s Prime Minister’s office, Move Forward Party's leader Pita Limjaroenrat, has failed to secure the needed majority in the National Assembly to be appointed as head of the Government in a vote on Thursday afternoon. Out of the 705 lawmakers present in both the House of Representatives and the Senate on Thursday, 324 voted for Pita, 182 voted against and 199 abstained. Thailand's previous prime minister resigned after almost nine years in office when he failed to receive enough votes from his party.
