Dog's First Swimming Lesson Leads Him Back To Shore
You might think that all dogs are just natural born swimmer, but we would beg to differ. Take big ol’ Taiyo as an example. His owner, the maker of this video, TaiTiJi, says that the big Bernese Mountain Dog has been learning to swim for two years up to this point.
Taiyo seems a bit uncertain, as he walks in the water, but his owner is in the deep end and Taiyo really wants to be with him. After a brief consideration, the fluffy pooch gives in to temptation and starts...slapping the water?
What does he think he is doing? Does he think he should dig his way through to his favorite human? Or does he think that slapping the surface of the water is the best way to cross the pond from one side to the other? Either way, it is both hilarious and frankly motivating to watch the big black dog overcome his fears.
Well, Taiyo might not be much of a swimmer, but he sure loves the great outdoors! Like, check out what he did when his owner took him out for a hike! When he sees the open field, Taiyo is so beside himself with happiness, that all he could do is zoom around and run in circles! That is one happy dog right there.
Not all dogs love water. For this reason, many pet owners, instead of going dipping with their beloved pooch, are forced to dwell near the pond encouraging their four-legged friend to even move towards the water, one paw at least! To save the animal from stress, and the owner from getting an unwanted tan from waiting under the sun, it is necessary to gradually instill your dog with the love of swimming.
There is a belief almost set in stone that all dogs can swim instinctively. In fact, few people think that the statement was born long before the "fashion" for "unusual" toy dogs, and some breeds were just not made for swimming. From the point of view of evolution, yes, all animals can swim. As the joke goes:
- "What about hippos?
- “They just run down the bottom."
While most dogs really like to frolic in the water, others would bypass the reservoir in a large circle, coming perhaps from the same breed as the later.
But Taiyo is not one of them: not a scaredy-cat and definitely not a miniature lap dog breed. He is a strong brave dog who loves his owner so much he would mindlessly jump into the water just to get to him, despite the obvious dislike of swimming. So do not hold a grudge against this beautiful creature for changing his mind halfway. At least it really made us laugh!
Pets are love and pets are life. Whether you like them or not, you can’t deny the fact that they put some rainbow sprinkles on your day, figuratively speaking. All pets are wonderful, but if there is one species that is able to turn up the party, then it’s definitely our canine friends.
If you love dogs as much as we do, share this video on social media or tell us a story of your beloved four-legged pal in the comment section below. And remember: dogs rule!
