Man Builds Powerful 40 Watt Laser Shotgun

Introducing himself, this talented guy tells us that he has built something that he is ever afraid to use. Wow, that sounds very intriguing and we are very interested in finding out what that might be! Check it out!

Now this is something that you thought that you'd only see in the movies! The future is now and this 22-year-old laser enthusiast named Drake Anthony shows off his latest gadget, a homemade laser shotgun. It's made up of 8 parallel 5W laser beams totaling to 40 watts of power. According to Drake, "The parallel beams are manipulated with lenses, sort of like how a choke modifies the spread of a shotgun blast."

The massive diode array is powered by a huge lithium polymer battery pack (capable up dumping 250A) and the laser array is regulated by a whopping 24 LM317 drivers. It's powerful enough to burn through a ping pong ball!

Who said science is boring? Sure, maybe in school you may have found the sciences boring, but in reality science can be really awesome! After all, if it was not for the sciences, our world would not be what it is today!

Have you ever heard about a laser shotgun? We haven’t either! Apparently this is a very powerful machine. Watch closely as Drake tries this shotgun on various objects. He starts off easy by pointing the laser at several black balloons and pops them open in the blink of an eye. Next, he attacks a piece of brown paper and sets it on fire using a close-range lens. Amazing!

He also tries his shot at some chemical solutions and a mini explosion is on the rise! Of course, this technique also sets a ping pong ball on fire in seconds. That is how powerful this laser is! Who would have known that it was so easy to set things on fire with a crafty laser gun! You should take a leaf out of Drake’s book and try it for yourself, just be very careful!

Fun fact: Laser is actually an acronym. It stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation! The word laser is derived from that acronym and now has become an everyday word! Who knew?

Talking about lasers, check out this amazing video. This light comes with a power cord if you want to plug it in or if it's not getting enough sun. It also comes with two methods of installation - a flat base that can be screwed into or otherwise connected to a flat surface, and a ground stake if you have a yard. There are pivot points above the stake connector and one on the solar panel so you can angle it toward the sunlight.

There are no settings to speak of, which is the only complaint I might have about this light. You click the button on and it turns on when it's dark then charges during the day. It's not incredibly bright, which is probably good as it's shining toward our windows. I'm looking forward to actually having a light display this Christmas season.
