Recently, Jess Baidwan, Environmental Services Manager with the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in Ignacio, CO. was interviewed by Melissa Homer on her podcast, "Cleaning up the Profits".

Here is what Jess has to say when he was asked, "What's the greatest pride that I have?"

Really, that is as far as Green is concerned, all of my technicians are trained to the Green standard, but it's also allowed us to get our buildings Green certified.

So in 2015, we got our first administrative building certified green.
And it was the very first one on any Indian reservation in the United States.

Two years later, in 2017, we pushed, and we were able to get seven of our buildings on campus Green certified. And then in 2021, my team worked really hard, and we were successful in getting 21 buildings on this campus Green certified.

It can be done. You educate them, you empower them. You get buy-in. They're willing to put in the work and give them goals to reach for, to stretch for, and they'll do it.
