Steven Gerrard explained the reasons behind his U-turn and becoming the new head coach of Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.

Gerrard had initially revealed that he turned down the offer from the Saudi side before further talks saw him then take up the vacant post.

The former Rangers and Aston Villa boss will be hoping his side improve on last season's seventh-placed finish - that saw them end the campaign a mammoth 35 points adrift of champions Al-Ittihad.
