On January 31, 2020, Andersen wrote in an infamous email, “[COVID] features (potentially) look engineered,” and the “genome is inconsistent with expectations from evolutionary theory.”

However, on February 4, 2020, after speaking with Fauci, Andersen changed his tune. “The main crackpot theories going around at the moment relate to this virus being somehow engineered ... and that is demonstrably false.”
