Threads app signs up 100m users in less than a week

Threads, the social media platform aiming to rival Twitter, has achieved a remarkable milestone by acquiring over 100 million users in under five days.

The app, developed by Meta, the parent company of Instagram, has surpassed the previous record set by OpenAI’s ChatGPT app, the BBC reported.

Threads was launched on both Apple and Android app stores in 100 countries, including the UK, last Wednesday. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg expressed his astonishment at the rapid achievement of this milestone, stating that he “couldn’t believe” it happened so quickly.
