Researchers at The University of British Columbia are using high performance computing to make breakthroughs in natural language processing and machine learning. With donated processing power from the AMD HPC Fund, they are expanding the diversity of languages supported by machine translation systems.

This work at the intersection of NLP and machine learning aims to:

• Improve machine translation for underserved languages

• Advance cross-lingual learning and information extraction

• Develop more inclusive artificial intelligence

The additional computing power is accelerating their groundbreaking research. It allows them to train larger neural networks and test more experiments to develop NLP models that generalize better across languages.
