The Qur'an (Arabic: القرآن) is the holy book of Islam. The Qur'an is considered by Muslims to be "The Word of Allah (God)". This book is different from other religious texts in that it is believed to be the literal words of God, through the prophet Muhammad.
Allah says, “Do they not, then, ponder upon the Qur'ān? Had it been from someone other than Allah, they would have found in it a great deal of discrepancy” (4:82). and “This is a blessed Book which We revealed to you, so that they reflect upon its verses, and those with understanding may take heed” (38:29).
Allah has emphasized al-Qurans special characteristics of Proof, Light, Guidance and Mercy several times. For those who follow the Quranic guidance with sincerity and faith, these characteristics promise good effects and blessed fruits. The phrase Allahs command is of delicate meaning.
The Quran (sometimes spelled Qur'an or Koran) is considered the most important holy book among Muslims. It contains some basic information that is found in the Hebrew Bible as well as revelations that were given to Muhammad.
The purpose of the Qur'an is to provide guidance to mankind in his endeavor to pass this test of life successfully and earn the reward in the next life. The objective of the Qur'an is to establish the worship of One God as was the objective of the previous revelations.
