At first sight, this new deal flosser from PECHAM looks very similar to the many other battery powered oral irrigators I have tried before. However, this newly upgraded model has a few features that lift it above the rest.

In the well designed mid-market product box was the flosser itself, a USB charging cable, three colour coded standard heads, one tongue cleaning head, a carry bag and a User Guide. The User Guide is well printed and easy to read and I enclose a scan of it in my unboxing video.

The flosser seems very well made fine for the price and I was pleased to see that it uses a USB power source, which makes it great for taking on holiday as no mains plugs or adapters are needed. However, it has a non-standard plug which is a pity, so take care not to lose it. The flosser is IPX7 waterproof so it can be used safely in the bathroom or even in the shower. Unlike some rivals, the larger than average 300ml water tank can be fully removed for cleaning although it also has a quick access point to refill.

On the front of the assembled flosser is the power button with below it the mode selection button. Press the Mode button to select the operating mode from Normal, Soft, Pulse and DIY. The selected mode name is illuminated below. When DIY mode is selected you can then long press the power button to find the best operating pressure for your needs between 30-100psi. The memory function of the device will automatically select the same pressure the next time the DIY mode is used. When in pulse mode the water jet pulses at 1400-1800 times per minute. The unit will turn off after 120 seconds of continuous use and cannot be used when charging. The heads can be clicked in place on the top of the flosser depressing the button next to the port to do so. If the flosser does not operate immediately after filling the tank it may be necessary to add a few drops of water into the head port opening first.

On the rear just above the water tank is the charging port, and although the unit is charged using a normal USB outlet, sadly the interface to the flosser is non-standard, so take care not to mislay the cable. The power port is grommet protected but the plug is not secured to the body of the flosser and so again, take care not to lose it.

The flosser has a rechargeable 2000mAh Lithium battery with one four hour charge giving at least twenty days of normal use. This is an advance on many rivals which offer a shorter battery life although often with reduced charging time. A status LED confirms the current charging status.

As a long-term user of handheld flossers, I was pleased with the power of the device, often battery-powered flossers can only manage a rather feeble flow, but not so here. I usually use it in standard mode and switch to a softer dial-in mode for the gums. The water tank is more than enough for a cleaning session and can be quickly refilled from the tap. One battery charge is enough for more than two weeks of normal use, which would make this flosser great for travel or vacations.

This is a well made and easy to use device, works well, and compares very favourably to similar units from market-leading brands.
