It's not just the Irish for whom any remaining free speech may soon become a thing of the past.
Ofcom - UK's communications regulator - is introducing the Online Safety Bill in the UK, that may end all encrypted messengers.
🇬🇧 The government argues the Bill is only to require messengers to scan for child sex abuse material in end-to-end encrypted messages. However Meredith Whittaker, CEO of Signal messenger, sounds the alarm that all personal devices may be required to carry spyware that will send your messages to a database, which determines whether or not they're allowed to be sent!
Unfortunately, the irony of what she perceives to be the greatest threat is lost on Meredith - 00:22 "Putin could get in the backdoor" - when it's your own government inching in on you, lady!
