Roger Stone, the controversial political strategist who was previously granted a pardon by Donald Trump for multiple felony convictions, was seen accompanying his longtime ally during a recent campaign trip. According to sources familiar with the travel, Stone joined Trump both at a campaign stop in Iowa and aboard the former president's private aircraft during a flight to Las Vegas.

During the trip, Trump visited Council Bluffs, Iowa, to launch his Farmers for Trump coalition. Stone was present at the event but did not speak on stage. Following the campaign stop, Trump is scheduled to meet with grassroots activists in Las Vegas the next day.

When contacted for comment, Stone did not respond immediately.

While Stone has not held a formal advisory role in Trump's camp since the early days of his initial presidential bid in 2015, his involvement in events leading up to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol drew attention during the subsequent investigation by the House Select Committee.

The committee focused on Stone's associations with extremist group leaders, including an Oath Keepers leader who was later convicted of seditious conspiracy charges and received a 12-year prison sentence in May. Stone was also recorded engaging in a conversation with Trump in late December 2020, during which he made violent remarks that were captured by a documentary crew.

Moreover, former aide Cassidy Hutchinson testified before Congress, stating that Trump had instructed then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to contact Stone the day before the Capitol attack. The legal entanglements between Stone and Trump are extensive, as Stone was a central figure in the investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election. The bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee concluded that Stone had taken actions to gain insider knowledge for the Trump campaign regarding the release of hacked material by WikiLeaks, intended to harm Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton's presidential bid.

In 2019, Stone was found guilty in federal court on seven counts, including witness tampering and making false statements, related to obstructing the congressional investigation into Trump's 2016 campaign and its connections to Russia. He was initially sentenced to over three years in federal prison, but Trump commuted his sentence and later issued a full pardon for his longtime associate.
