What is Melatonin?
The pineal gland is a small endocrine gland located adjacent to the suprachiasmatic nucleus. Its shape resembles a tiny pine cone (hence its name).

The pineal gland's light-transducing ability (the ability to change one form of energy into another) has led some to call the pineal the "third eye."
What is Serotonin?
Serotonin is a biochemical neurotransmitter:

It is found in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, platelets, and central nervous system (CNS) of animals, including humans. Approximately 90% of the human body's total serotonin is located in the cells in the gastrointestinal tract, where it is used to regulate intestinal movements.
