Retired U.S. Army intelligence officer, Sworn in as Sergeant at Arms, U.S. House of Representatives on April 26, 2021, becoming the 38th person and first African American to hold this post since its inception in 1789. Served as the chief law enforcement, security,
safety and protocol officer for the 117th Congress, with responsibility for maintaining order on the House Floor
and the life, safety, and security of the 13,000 employees and millions of people who visit the United States
Capitol complex annually.
