The Sonic Energy Authority - Dirk Jutta Roboter

Something a bit different this time. A music video for the band 'The Sonic Energy Authority'.

I was asked by band member Cardinal Cox, an old school friend of mine, to produce an animation for their new track 'Dirk Jutta Roboter'.

Paul Preston, another band member, explains how this came to be recorded:

"The track itself is a reworking of a S.E.A track called "Dick, Jane & Robot". A founding member of Kraftwerk died (Florian Schneider) in 2020, so thought I should make a Kraftwerky version. Dick doesn't translate well into German. The original words were translated best I could using Google translate, and then fed into a speech synthesizer program on an iPad."

The Sonic Energy Authority (Paul Preston - electrics, Cardinal Cox - words, and Sydney Syntax - extra electrics) were active from the mid-1980s to the early-1990s. Purposefully eclectic, they earned mentions in sf novels by such authors as Jon Courtenay Grimwwod, Peter F Hamilton and Robert Rankin ( which lead to a photo-shoot for SFX Magazine in the exotic glamour of a Woolies photobooth - which then broke...). This track is a re-mix by Paul of an old one, to make it even more Kraftwerk-like than it originally was.

Animation created in Blender and edited and mixed in DaVinci Resolve.
