Uganda seeks financing for planned oil refinery to meet country’s energy needs

Uganda has began drilling for oil in the country's western region, with an expected daily output capacity of 40,000 barrels per day, according to local authorities. Addressing the 25th annual African Energy Forum last month, Uganda's Energy Minister underlined the importance of supplying power at an affordable rate.

We discussed this with the Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs at the Uganda Petroleum Authority. He believes that the project will be at peak production capacity by 2025.
