Fatal crash, pilot Joey Den Besten lost his life

joey Den Besten he died from the consequences caused since the accident, occurred under the rain, during the second heat of the International Road Racing Championship (IRRC) in Imatra, Finland.

The accident took place on the titled circuit Jarno Saarinen.

Den Besten, 30, Dutch, over the years had carved out a leading role in the Irrc championship.

The accident that led to the driver’s death took place yesterday, Sunday 2 July, during the formation lap.

The race was run in the wet and during the lap before the race Den Besten would lose control of the bike and would have ended up against a light pole.

Den Besten was also remembered by IRRC: “Joey den Besten was a roadracer highly experienced and well known.

He started in 2014 in the Supersport class and has participated in our competition for many years.

He’s become champion in our Supersport class in 2014 and 2017 and in the intervening years he was vice-champion.

In 2018 he competed in the Superbike class and continued as a Superbike rider in 2021 until now.

In 2021 and 2022 he achieved a 3rd and 7th place respectively in the Superbike championship.

IRRC management would like to express its deepest condolences to his partner, family, friends and loved ones.”
