ON THIS DAY, IN 1776, THE CONTINENTAL CONGRESS DECLARED ITS FREEDOM FROM GREAT BRITAIN.

On this day, in 1776, the Continental Congress declared its freedom from Great Britain.

Our story is a story of rebellion.

America is the only country in the world to completely throw off the authoritarian British Crown, the most powerful empire in the world at the time, without being “granted” independence- the American founding fathers just took it.
The only modern country whose founding document is based on individual liberty and freedom. We’ve come a long way in living up to these principles as a Nation and we’ve still more to go but there is still no more free place on Earth than the United States of America.
