So you've got a bunch of Mylar-packed long term food and you want to know how many days worth of food it is. Here's the quick and easy method to add it all up. This also works for totaling up your pantry, freeze-dried products, other other pre-packaged goods, just skip the weighing.

To review:
1. look at the product's nutrition facts and multiply Calories per serving by the number of servings to get its total Calories per box/bag
2. look at the total weight, preferably in grams since it's the smallest, most specific unit, and divide Calories by grams to get a Calorie per gram ratio for that food.
3. Weigh your Mylar packed food then subtract the weight of one Mylar bag and one oxygen absorber (typically 18 grams.)
4. Multiply the true weight by the Calories per gram ratio and get the total Calories.
5. Divide the final grand total calorie amount of all your food by your daily Calorie usage to get the number of days. Adult women tend to be around 2000 and men around 2500 for a moderately physically active day.
