➡️ NBRC stands for:
National Board for Respiratory Care

It's a nonprofit organization in the United States that provides and maintains credentials for Respiratory Therapists upon earning a passing score on the certification board examinations.

➡️ The two primary credentials that are offered by the NBRC are:
▪ RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist
▪ CRT - Certified Respiratory Therapist

A minimum of the CRT credential is required to obtain a license in the United States, although many employers are now requiring their practitioners to have obtained the RRT credential. Each state requires that the Respiratory Therapist maintain active credentials from the NBRC in order to carry a license to practice in that state.

➡️ The NBRC also offers specialized credentialing in certain fields of respiratory care as well, including:
▪ Critical care
▪ Sleep disorders
▪ Neonatal and pediatric
▪ Pulmonary function
▪ And more
