SHOOTING INCIDENT AT SURE STAY PLUS HOTEL LEAVES 17-YEAR-OLD MALE INJURED | SACRAMENTO
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A shooting incident took place at the Sure Stay Plus Hotel in the Woodlake area of Sacramento early Sunday morning, resulting in a 17-year-old male sustaining a gunshot wound to the upper leg. According to initial reports, the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m.
According to early reports, the shooting transpired during a room party that quickly escalated into a violent altercation. Callers reported hearing at least 5 to 6 gunshots, causing panic and chaos within the hotel premises.
The victim suffered a through-and-through gunshot wound to the upper leg. Sacramento Police Department (SACPD) officers swiftly responded to the scene and promptly applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding. Paramedics were called to the location and subsequently transported the injured teenager to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening.
In the aftermath of the incident, the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) unit has been dispatched to the hotel to collect evidence. Authorities have launched an investigation into the shooting and are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The motive for the altercation remains unknown at this time.
The Sacramento Police Department stated, "Just after 2:28 a.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Canterbury Road regarding reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a victim with at least one non life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital. This remains an active investigation."
In the late evening hours of June 18th, a double stabbing incident also took place at the same location.
As the investigation progresses, additional updates will be provided by the authorities.
