Rhodesian Army African Rifles Battalion | Mock Battle on 2nd Day of Wankie Show | August 1972

Footage of E-Company members of the First Battalion Rhodesian African Rifles staging a mock battle in the middle of an arena on the second day of the 12th Annual Wankie Show in Rhodesia.

A light aircraft and helicopter joined in the battle, which included troop advances using automatic weapons and mortar-fire. The Battalion made up part of the defence force which guarded Rhodesian borders against infiltration by African Nationalist guerrillas.

Wankie is close to the Zambian, border and lay within what the Rhodesian authorities designated a "defence belt".
