THE BALISONG KNIFE STORY

During the 333 years of Spanish occupation of the Philippines, Filipinos were forbidden to carry weapons. This put Filipina Women at the mercy of rapists and robbers. Being the creative people that they are, the Filipinos invented a knife concealed within the handles of what appeared to be a handheld fan which was commonplace during that time. The overhead icepick grip opening that I'm demonstrating was one of the very first moves that I learned from GrandTuhon Supremo Leo T. Gaje of the Pekiti Tirsia Kali System back in 1980 when he was living in Houston, Texas, my hometown. If you'd like to learn more balisong moves or Jeet Kune Do of which I'm certified to teach and NOT PTK, you're welcome to train in Keller, Texas or have me conduct a seminar at your home, recreation center, or school. Just email me, jkd sifu mike goldberg at grampsfu@yahoo.com for further information.
