July 3, 1988 - Greenville (South Carolina) News and Piedmont Previews Billy Graham Special From USSR

In June 1988, I (Ken Owen) was anchoring the news at WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina, and was sent to the Soviet Union to cover the millennium of the Russian Orthdox Church, which Billy Graham from nearby Montreat would be attending. As it happened, we were the only news organization in the western world sanctioned to cover the event, which came months before the fall of the Berlin Wall and communism.
