🟠 "It's unbearably hot!" — That's the phrase that people in Mexico have been saying most frequently lately. Climatologist Maximiliano Herrera stated, "Mexico is experiencing the most intense heat wave in its history, and this is just the beginning.”
JUNE 2023
☀️ MEXICO: Almost the entire country is suffering from extremely high temperatures, ranging from 30 to 45 degrees Celsius and even higher. In June 2023, temperatures hit over 40 degrees Celsius.

See our new report about the unbearable heat, the fact that the heat builds up and what consequences it can lead to.

The unbearable heat has caused over 10 human fatalities. Experts note that what is unusual about this June is the intensity and duration of days with high or atypical temperatures for this month.
2023
☀️ MEXICO: A strong and extreme drought is observed over a large part of Mexico's territory. This is particularly alarming because it provokes a growing water shortage.
The period of high temperatures in the country began as early as March and is forecast to continue until October.

⚠️ The heat threatens the agricultural sector. Farmers from at least seven states fear it will significantly impact crop yields and subsequently lead to an increase in prices for products such as eggs or poultry.

In Idalgo and Queretaro states alone, 40,000 hectares intended for the cultivation of coffee, corn, beans, and oats were lost this year.

Farmers are also concerned that in the near future, they may face not only water shortages but also an increase in the cost of resources such as feed for livestock.

JUNE 2023
☀️ INDIA: June heat is very atypical, as, normally, monsoon rains already cool down the subcontinent this month. The Associated Press estimates that about 200 people have died due to the high temperatures in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
⚡ The situation is aggravated by regular power outages. People are left without water, fans, and air conditioners.
For many, this becomes an unbearable ordeal, considering that temperatures exceed 40⁰Сs.

The critical situation in India is exacerbated by widespread flooding. We tell you more in our new report.

LATE JUNE 2023
🌊 INDIA: For the residents of ASSAM STATE, the massive floods have become a challenge. Entire villages and large areas of farmland ended up underwater.
According to the Assam Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), they have affected about half a million people.
Tens of thousands of people sought refuge in temporary relief camps.

⚠️ The monsoon season has just begun, but the situation is already extremely critical.

Climatic changes are now happening so rapidly that they affect the entire globe. We have less and less time left to address the climate crisis.

📍 But there is also good news. We still have time to create the conditions in society that will help unite all scientists to study and solve this issue. For more details, watch the forum "Global Crisis. There Is a Way Out".
