Ranking More Video Game Controllers | SEGA | Xbox | Nintendo

Regardless of the system you play on or the games you play, one thing is relatively constant: the controller you use to play the system and games. Over the years I have bought or avoided certain systems solely on the controller and whether I liked how it felt in my hands or not. What are some of my favorites? And least favorites? We take you through just a few of the best and worst video game controllers in our opinion.

Nintendo Wavebird:
One of my favorite controllers of all time is the Gamecube's, so when they made it wireless I was sold. The Wavebird is comfortable, it has good battery life, and it cut the cord! The only downside is the lack of rumble.

Atari 2600
I hated this controller so much! The rubber sleeve always came off, they always broke down, and they weren't comfortable! The day I discovered you could use the Genesis controllers with the Atari was a very good day indeed! Speaking of Sega...

Master System
This was a very good controller in my opinion, almost as good as the original NES controller. The one thing that holds it back in my opinion was the lack of a start or pause button on it. But it did not dig into your palm like the NES controller could.

Saturn 3D Controller
This is the basis for the Dreamcast controller and the Xbox Duke, and it should come as no surprise as I hate those controllers and also dislike this one. It's better than those others but it just feels like I am using a saucer to play games. Not good man!

Xbox 360 Controller
Out of all these controllers, this one is my least favorite. I've never liked the 360 controller, it is why I never bought a 360 back in the day! I still don't get Microsoft's infatuation with AA batteries either.

TurboGrafx 16 controller
Take everything I said about the Master System controller and the same holds true here, BUT it has a start/pause button AND integrated Turbo! Such a great controller!

Wii U Gamepad
Man, this thing is terrible. And it's less about the layout and more about how Nintendo made devs use it. I hated the Motion Controls on it, it ruined Starfox on the Wii U!

NES Dogbone Controller
One of the finest controllers ever made! I know some people don't like the angled buttons, but I like them. In fact, the B & A Buttons are angled like that to this day on the Nintendo Switch!
