Colleges' use of racial preferences is not a new phenomenon, nor is the use of racial preferences against Asian American students a new issue.

Asian American students brought similar charges-that universities were using racial quotas to limit Asian American enrollment as early as the 1980s.

Any use of racial preferences to give favor to one group of Americans over another is immoral and wrong. It violates our Civil Rights and constitutional freedoms.

Research finds that college officials' use of racial preferences in admissions creates a mismatch between racial and ethnic minority students and the colleges that enroll them. This mismatch results in negative academic and employment outcomes for students.
