Date – Thursday, June 29th - 2023 – St. Peter and Paul

These apostles, chosen by Our Lord Jesus Christ, hold a special place in the hearts of Catholics around the world.

Though no longer with us on earth, have not ceased their intercession for the Church. Time has not diminished their power, and from the glory of Heaven, they continue to advocate for the Church and its faithful children.

Sadly, the devil has managed to dull the faith of many in recognizing the significant roles that Sts. Peter and Paul play in our lives. We must awaken from this slumber and remember that our Lord chose these two saints to carry on His work and visibly represent Him on earth.

St. Ambrose, beautifully describes the apostolic mission of the Church and the unique roles of Sts. Peter and Paul. He compares the Church to a ship, and St. Peter to a fisherman who uses both hook and net. The hook, though it wounds, converts the fish, while the net brings in multitudes.

Jesus Himself commanded St. Peter to cast his nets into deep waters, representing the depths of human hearts. And despite Peter's initial discouragement, our Lord insisted, showing us the importance of persevering in our apostolic efforts.

St. Paul, too, tirelessly fights for our souls, proclaiming that he shares in our sufferings. Let us strive to live in a way that does not cause unnecessary pain to the Apostles who intercede for us.

From Heaven, they continue to nourish and develop the apostolate they began.

As we reflect on their lives, we remember that the apostolate of St. Peter and St. Paul faced both challenges and triumphs. Their labor was not in vain, as they converted countless souls and laid the foundation for the Church. Through their examples, we learn humility, perseverance, and the importance of relying on supernatural assistance.

Thank you for joining us on this special feast day. Let us remember the intercession of Sts. Peter and Paul and seek their guidance as we continue our journey of faith. May their examples inspire us to persevere in our apostolate and deepen our devotion to the Church.

St. Peter and Paul, pray for us!
