West – East, and the coming of the Beast

John who wrote this (Revelation), knew nothing of computers, electricity, television, modern technology, so instead he used images to communicate what is coming: fire from heaven, a talking image, a mark which enables you to buy and sell. 
In our time, we can see how this could come to pass with modern technology. We can also see features from recent and present history showing how the Antichrist could come to such power, something that would have been impossible in the ancient world.
