The Bargarran Witchcraft Scare occurred in Renfrewshire, Scotland, in the 1690's. With the Scottish Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution fast approaching, what was the cause the strange occurrences reported by Christian Shaw, the daughter of John Shaw, The Laird of Bargarran, and who, or what was responsible for her mysterious injuries, leading to one of Scotland's most famous trials, The Paisley Witchcraft Trial of 1697.
