There comes a point in ones Spiritual Development that they must Face the Shadow of their Own Inner Darkness, to acknowledge it's existence and nature. When that dark truth can be accepted without fear, but to hold that in ones understanding, is too know oneself in a fuller state of the totality of Truth. It is this process that allows one to Transcend their own Dark Nature and move beyond to Higher Consciousness.

There is a Spiritual Challenge known as "The Dark Night of the Soul." This is when one is confronted with a dark and dismal state of hardship that seems nearly unbearable and insurmountable. This can bring ruination to ones life if they are not strong enough to face that darkness. But if one can instead see this, as life sending one an urgent message, and use that to prevail over what they had done to reach that state, they can transform their lives and their very self consciousness.

For for one to Know the Truth, one must Know Thyself.

Understanding, Repentance and Self Forgiveness brings a sense of peace and dis-attachment from that darkness that Leeds one to the light beyond the dark.
